The salmon run

Hoy Creek is home to predominantly chum and coho salmon. And at times pink and chinook salmon. Salmon (chum) begin to return in mid-October, tapering off in December; coho in November, tapering off into January. If you visit the creeks outside of the common return months you still may see juvenile salmon resting in the side channels, under bridges or fallen trees or overhanging branches. read our salmon spotting tips here.

How can you help protect the stream during your visit?
